How to Choose Your Gauges

The instruments you get on a consol are SPG, depth gauge, thermometer, compass and computer.

Look for a metal SPG as many are very cheaply made and don’t last.

The depth gauge MUST be altitude adjustable if you are diving inland and should have a maximum depth indicator.

Thermometers are nice to have but not required

Compasses on a consol are very hard to use and make the whole unit very large.

Computers on a consol reduce the price of buying a computer if you are buying a regulator as well so well worth looking into that option.

Size of the dials
The smaller consoles are nice and compact but reduce the increments and lose accuracy. They are not nearly as long lasting as the bigger gauges.  So again size does count!
